A DREAMY WALK-IN CLOSET AT ELLINOR'S

Ellinor is a home decor enthusiast and lifestyle influencer who gladly shares her ideas and projects with her followers. When the renovation of the family’s house in Nacka began, one could follow the entire process via her Instagram account – from the first inspirational images to the finished rooms.

When it was time to tackle the master bedroom and wardrobe solutions, there were some challenges in the layout. The goal was to create a walk-in closet that was packed with storage, yet airy and elegant.

A warm and elegant whole

To achieve the warm, timeless feeling, Ellinor chose the door Flat Oak in natural oak. She had already used this material choice in the hallway entrance, and the result there was so lovely that it felt natural to continue with the same expression. Recurring materials tie the home together and give that sought-after unity.

Smart solution for pipes and wiring

Just inside the door to the wardrobe corridor, there were pipes and wiring that needed to be hidden but still accessible when needed. The solution became a low storage that both conceals the installations and creates a beautiful place for decoration. Here Ellinor plans to put up a large custom-sized mirror – a detail that will really enhance the room.

The wardrobes that continue into the bedroom

The doorway into the bedroom was to be removed, and early on the idea was born to let the wardrobe wall continue all the way into the bedroom area. This created a soft and natural flow between the rooms. The lower storage by the window provides both lightness and function.

In the middle of the long wall, there was also a section with shallower depth due to pipes/wiring on the wall behind. Here Ellinor designed an open shelf section with lighting – a detail that adds both variety and atmosphere in the middle of the storage solution.

From sketch to carpentry

Ellinor’s hand-drawn sketch was full of feeling and clever ideas. Here we brought it to life in a first visualization, where her thoughts about both closed and open storage began to take shape. A first step from dream to something you can actually step into.

When the order was sent to the carpentry workshop, as always, oak veneer from the same oak log was chosen, which gives a harmonious and coherent expression across the doors.

At the carpentry workshop, the veneer is pressed onto boards, edged with solid oak, milled for hinges, and surface treated before everything is carefully packed for transport.

The storage takes shape

Wardrobe doors, baseboards, cover sides, and shelves have now been installed, and the result is both sleek and practical.

The low storage by the entrance naturally hides all pipes. On top, Ellinor now has a perfect surface for a mirror, decoration, or styling.

Here a bookcase/open section was built up with cover sides in special measurements. The storage under the shelves consists of wall cabinet frames with doors in the same oak as the wardrobes.

The lighting in the shelves gives the room a soft and embracing feeling.

A single flow of function and beauty

Behind the wardrobe doors hides the furnishings from IKEA Pax. When the doors open, the lighting turns on automatically – a small detail that makes everyday life smoother and enhances the feeling of luxury.

The wardrobes run along the entire wall and end by the window with a lower storage that ties the walk-in closet to the bedroom.

Light, textiles, and oak meet in a peaceful conclusion to the wardrobe wall. The low storage becomes both function and ornament – a detail that sets the tone for the whole room.

Soft oak, muted tones, and warm lighting create a bedroom where every part is connected. The walk-in closet becomes a natural extension of the room – elegant, harmonious, and completely tailored.

A walk-in closet that shows the possibilities

Ellinor’s walk-in closet is a fine example of how much can be achieved by combining IKEA Pax frames with custom-sized fronts and details. With the right planning, it is possible to create both closed and open storage, let the wardrobes meet the ceiling, and make use of every centimeter – while the expression becomes completely unique and tailored.

Here it is precisely the small, well-thought-out details that lift the whole: the open shelf section with lighting, the low storage that hides installations, the beautifully veneered oak fronts, and the soft transition between the wardrobe wall and the bedroom.

The result is a built-in feeling that combines function, warmth, and elegance – and shows that smart storage can become one of the home’s most beautiful features.
